What a shame. This year people have one of two options: 1/ Have any return put in a checking account via direct deposit or 2/ A debit card.

In my case my wife and I would get each one. They cost our "broke" State $5.00 PER card.

I'm going to assume most take the debit card and I think it's a sad ploy to get people to spend it rather than save it.

Not only that, you know what happens with gift cards. They get lost or you either end up with a purchase that exceeds the balance and have to empty your pockets.

I had the sum b1tches deposit it but hated to give them my account info. I'm fortunate to have personal relationships with Presidents of two of the local banks I do business with so my risk is not AS high as some may be...I think. lol

So choose option 1. What will stop you from transferring the money from your checking account to savings?

I generally try to set what i claim so i can break even at the end of the year. i don't like the idea of the government borrowing my money and not paying me interest.

I love it when I have to pay a little. Makes me feel like I got away with something.

Did you remember to claim your citizen's assessment?

If you own a home look at your insurance declaration page. There should be a line that says Lousisan citizens Assessment or something like that. It should be between 50 and 100 bucks. You can claim that as a credit and reduce your tax liability.
