I'm not disappointed to see Steele leave. I don't think he was the right fit. However his leaving presents a larger issue that is worthy of analysis. In two years two defensive coordinators leave. This indicates instability in the football office. There isn't any doubt there is some interesting arm wrestling going on most likely between Alleva and whomever supported keeping Les around. The hiring of the new DC will be a revealing litmus test as to who is winning the wrestling match. If the hire comes from outside the staff, then Miles has truly been given the adequate support he needs to try to turn things around. However, if Orgeron is promoted, then this is most likely a move made in the interest of economics via a promotion from within- the rationale being why spend a lot of money on a new DC when the head coach is on the hot seat. This would indicate Miles is in trouble and Alleva is being allowed to continue to sharpen the axe for next November. I know O has a lot of support. I know many believe he is deserving of the promotion on merit, but I have never believed Miles wanted him onboard. Of course all the right things will be said and everyone will smile in a show of unity but keep an eye on this hire. If it's an outsider Miles has free reign to right the ship. If it's O, the boat is still sending out an S O S. Have a safe and happy new year, everyone.

Or, that O was the best hire....
Or that Steele was only hired in the interim, and O was brought on so that Miles could evaluate him, with the thought of promoting him this year.

I think you are reading too much into the Chavis departure. From what I understand he didn't want to leave but they wouldn't take out the clause in the contract.

Steele, meh who knows, Terry said something about retirement in Alabama or whatever.

After the fiasco that was November there had to be a bloodletting and it appears Steele drew the short straw. Not surprising since Bradley dale and Cam are practically family.

The onion will be fine as long as they pay Beckwith enough to keep him here one mo again.

Fine meaning the status quo, same ol same ol

It could be that Steele needs to spend more time working in Alabama to become vested in the Alabama retirement system

More pay, longer contract, pad the resume, more competent and trustworthy athletic dept, a president that realizes that football is the cash cow.

i think chavis was on record after he signed with A&M the main reason for his departure was les miles lack of offense.

That worked out well for him didn't it? The faggie O has been pretty pathetic lately. KS may have a hotter seat than CLM.

Their fan base is generally delusional...but my point was that Chavis went from one poor O to another. The faggies are even more dysfunctional that LSU.
