lack of effort always happens when youre getting your ass kicked in the trenches. just like the same lame excuse 1.9.12 when the same thing happened. its not that we arent talented. of course we are. this isnt the air force academy. but its all about where your weaknesses are not where youre strongest. Our weaknesses were on the dline size and depth which was key to our seemingly more prepared defenses of the past. however to claim we were ill-prepared or not interested in the biggest game of the season is laughable. it reeks of fandom reasoning to justify the embarrassment. 250 yds rushing to bama and 300 yds rushing to r-kansas in b2b games. Whatever helps people sleep better I suppose. You gotta be able to stop the point of attack. We didnt have the studs to do that. Thats why Valentine is so important.
If we list Key as a D-Lineman, we have 3-4 NFL draft picks on the line. I just don't see what issues there are. Are we the #1 unit in the country? No, but we are in the top 20 for sure.
I think I agree with basically everything you said here. My only issue was that there was a connotation that we lack talent. I see a lack of effort from that three game span in the last year, though, because of how well the defense played against A&M when Miles's job was on the line. They laid down against Arkansas like a bunch of pansies, and then allowed 7 against A&M. I just don't see how that happens without a severe change in effort and/or preparedness. I also am not one to write things off for stupid reasons; I think that the 18-22 year old "boys" need to learn a lesson in manhood sometimes, step up when the time comes, and not always rely on the coaches to take the blame.
He isn't a lineman though, he is an outside linebacker. We are now running the 34, which means we have on the line, Neal, Godchaux and Gilmore. Their backups are Clark, Herron, and Valentine. Is the line terrible? I don't think so but there are question marks.
He might want to try by proving 'he's so happy to be at Lsu.' Every time I turn around he's thinking of interviewing with somebody else. I don't see where he's done much yet.
Don't think it's that simple. I think LSU is way more talented than Alabama in certain areas, namely receiver, DB, and RB. But we don't have the depth they have at linebacker, and defensive line. Don't really ever know what to think about the O line, every year I think they are gonna be the shiznit but they disappoint.
