The fastest and baddest race car in the world isn't gonna win it all when Stevie Wonder is driving it unless all the other cars wreck before the finish.
You're 1-1 vs USC. It's not winning but it ain't losing. If you want to keep it modern era, okay but ND has 4 Heisman winning QB's. Some could argue USC under Carroll? MOST could argue that. Palmer and Leinart were both a huge reason for the NC's. Bush and White were integral as well but Leinart shredded Oklahoma in 2004. Sanchez wasn't too shabby either but no Nattys.
I agree that LB is now more important than ever before in your new defensive scheme. But we pulled Denzel Devall and Tim Williams out of the state and they were better than advertised for us. We got linemen and LBs out of LA because of our defensive scheme. Got to be careful with the type of athlete LSU has been calling DE. They would qualify as OLB at Bama and in the NFL and maybe now at LSU. Mingo and Key being a good example. I know that the NFL is littered with great DBs and WR's from TigerLand, but you have 8 LBs playing in the NFL right now, 9 if Rascal gets picked up this season. I know with the 3-4, depth is an issue with LB, but Beckwith and Arden Key at LB ain't no joke and those two will be playing on Sundays soon enough.
It's not about winning X number of games. It's about winning championships. It's also about not losing to the same team(s) every year.
I still can't believe Auburn didn't get in that 04 game with USC. OU shouldn't have been there, nor the year before.
Not losing to them every year does not mean beating them every year. You preaching to the choir on that one. I was born in 65 so don't pitch me that one. I remember.
