Marcus Randall?? Heaven help us. Marcus should have been moved to safety, or linebacker. No way was he ever a major college QB. IMO only

    That was kinda my point.

If he has to play a lot, we're in deep trouble and will have to run the ball 45-50 times a game to stay afloat.

He isn't terrible. He just can't throw it 40 times a game and win. He is too green.

Marcus Randall sure did perfect the QB Draw. He must of run that play 35 times a game.

There's a lot of confidence about Spring Ball in here in areas where there needs to be serious concern, such as LB & secondary. There's talent and experience like Taylor and Beckwith, but they are your only two seniors.

Geaux down the line on your expected 2008 depth chart, what do you see?

    A huge hit from graduation!

    SAM (OLB)
    Perry Riley So.
    Kellen Theriot Fr.

    Mike
    Darry Beckwith Sr.
    Shomari Clemons Fr.

    Will
    Kelvin Sheppard Jr.
    Ace Foyil Jr

    Word on Cutrera???

    CB
    Jai Eugene So
    Phelon Jones RSFR
    Chris Hawkins Jr.
    Ron Brooks RSFR

    SS
    Chad Jones So.
    Danny McCray Jr.
    Steffon Francois RSFR.

    FS
    Curtis Taylor Sr.
    Harry Coleman Jr.

I see a rebuilding year for sure and lots of playing time for the youngsters and even several of the 2008 Signees.

Don't even whisper the word "injury".

Who from the 2008 crop will likely see immediate and early playing time.

DB is one position where freshmen or redshirt freshmen can come in and make an impact. I was looking at some of our redshirts on Lukky Lou's list, and if those guys are as good as they looked when we recruited them, we'll be doing well.

Laron Landry immediately comes to mind as an instant impact player. Chad Jones had some stellar moments, as well.

As far as LB goes, I'll be very interested to see how Shepard pans out.

Cornerback and Safety are very different positions. I'm not saying you're wrong - just that Laron Landry was a safety, correct? Chad Jones is more of a safety (Dime Back) than a Corner.

I'm told that the skills required to be a good Cornerback are rarer and tougher to learn, so the position is less likely to be played really well by a frosh.

    But that's all what I read. I played center...

I don't think the poster above has been paying attention to Riley and Sheppard (and Cutrera his frosh year). They are both big time special teams demons...a nose for the football and big hitters and sure tacklers (much like Harry Coleman was before he got his chance to play). Cutrera was the 3rd best LB on the team his freshman year, and was hurt last year. He also has good instincts and is a sure tackler. He will be fine and Riley will surprise everyone who hasn't been paying attention. Sheppard is a big time hitter, will lay you out and blow you up in the hole. Our LB corps. are not in such bad hands as most make them out to be (nervousness?). We do lack depth, but we are getting lots of help in the fall - although I hope we don't have to play them.

I feel very comfortable with Riley & Sheppard. I'm far from sold on Cutrera. Every game he has played substantially in at MLB, teams have run the ball effectively on us. His instincts are mediocre, he doesn't have good change of direction/sideline to sideline speed, and isn't a big hitter.

teams had a full length scrimmage today.

all the RBs did good, but Richard Murphy dominated. the O-Line is the strength of this team, easily.

If we can stay within 3-6 pts, I have to believe we will win most of the close ones, because those guys will wear out everyone they play.
