Because its all about the human factor and what match ups they want to see at the end of the season. Preseason polls are a farce. Many of the voters vote based on a bias, not on any true thought of facts and anaylsis, not the AP poll.
You vote in the preseason based on the last few recruiting class rankings...and that is the ONLY reason why finishing high in the rankings is important (and the reason why USC always starts 1 or 2).
im pretty sure there are no guidelines set by those that put out polls. there should be. it should be based on how good you think the team will be or on how good you think their record will be. the first choice is much better because the second depends on how good other teams will be. so if voters are wrong about how good one team will be, not only did they get that team wrong, they also underestimated how good all their opponents will be.
Yawn, Is it April 5th yet? Seems to be some hi-jacking going on, but I guess its slow so anything to bide the time... CParso, thanks for keeping us updated. :thumb:
talk about a slippery slope this is exactly what I was trying to get at you shouldn't project into the future....so you just base it off how the team did the previous year, their recruiting prospects who are now ready to take the field, attrition and stability in the coaching staff
We've discussed this before. It doesn't matter how you think it should be - preseason polls are a prediction of where a team will finish, which takes into account a team's schedule.
CFN makes a point to clarify that, but you also have to consider CFN isn't part of the main-stream media which has a say in relevant polls.
