I heard a comedienne once that said women use sex the wrong way. She tells the women in her audience not to withhold sex when she wants something, because that will just make it worse. She says if you really want to use sex to control your husband, save the "goodies" for whenever he does something right. "If you rub that thing right, you'll have the prettiest house on the block! It'll have a fresh coat of paint every week!" Take a lesson, ladies.

You illustrate my point. Programs like Bama, USC, and Notre Dame get press whether they are 13-0 or 6-6. They do not have to earn a place at the table like the LSUs and Oregons of the world.
Man, where have you been in the last 10 years? LSU is a top tier team. Even Auburn recognizes it and envies it.
Not that I'm ready to say LSU's spot at the table isn't completely justified, but we've honestly only been a top-tier team for about a decade. We just don't have the tradition or the legacies that some of these older programs have. We're new money.
It is indeed the golden age of LSU football, but come on . . . just because we're not Notre Dame does not make us "new money". LSU has had consistent success for 100 years or we wouldn't be #9 on the all-time football programs list. If top tier to you is 3 schools, then LSU isn't there. I think the top tier is bigger than you imagine and LSU is top-10 for sure. There are about 100 schools who would trade positions with us. I think that in todays enhanced sports media market, LSU gets a huge amount of attention . . . comparable to the schools you mention.
Yes, but we've always been second-tier, until recently. Our single championship in 100 years prior to 2003 is a testament to that. We haven't become a perrenial power until the last decade. I still say we're New Money. Or at least...new to the billionaire's club.
Red makes a good distinction. There are 3 maybe 4 schools that are identified as the top of the top in historic and current terms. LSU is in the next 10 or so teams that have been or are close to that sphere at any one time. We are definately above the other 90% of CFB in terms of reputation and pedigree.
