Here's the list of Spring Games that will be on TV: Only Alabama (ESPN2) and aTm (ESPN) will be televised by a major network....aTm obviously because the have the reigning Heisman winner, Alabama obviously because they are two-time reigning National Champs are winner of 3 of the last 4 NCs http://www.fbschedules.com/2013/03/2013-spring-football-game-tv-online-schedule/
I would venture USC, Notre dame, Alabama & Ohio State are at the top of the pantheon. They can suffer down years (or decades in ND's case)yet still capture the lead and media interest every year. LSU, Michigan, Ga, Fla, Tenn, Okla, Texas, Fla St, Miami & Nebraska hover near the top but staying is more dependent on performance year in and year out. Penn State would have been there but for Sandusky and may be again if they don't suffer. Teams like UCLA, Oregon, Clemson Washington, Okie State, Arky, Mich State are recognizable and get some love but quickly fall off if performance suffers. The rest just lurk in the mud though they come up every once in a while.
Oh okay. Now I see. And on the "USL" thing, I'm down with that. Beware. Anyone who enjoys Spring Games "immensely" has a little Bama in them somewhere. Da hell you not. I can take it but don't piss on my back and tell me it's raining.
There is no Crimson and no Tide here! Maybe because it was the first time I had ever gotten to go to Tiger Stadium, but it was just awesome.
Year after year, my mom and I would complain to my dad about how boring scrimmages were; we wanted real games. Dad always told us that the scrimmages were for the coaches and the players, and neither cared if the spectators liked it or not. Apparently, Miles feels the same way.
Les has stated openly that he would not hold a spring game if not required to by the AD. The athletic department wants it for PR, but the coaches want a scrimmage for practice reasons. Thus Les has no motive to make an exciting spring game for the fans and he doesn't. There is no spring game national championship.
