And we also know that Harris played the entire latter part of the season with a sports hernia. I never intended to proclaim that Harris will replicate Mettenberger's numbers....for that matter they are different styles of QB imo. That said, there are plenty of voices around here who are down on Harris right now and act like he will never improve. The statistics are proof positive that Harris is at least on a similar course relative to their skill sets.
Hernia is located in the stomach area, not between the ears or in the hands and arms. . Oh yeah, they're different styles of QB's all right. IMO, Harris will not improve enough to lead LSU to an SEC West Championship. He can't throw the short-medium range touch passes, can't read defenses, can't go through progressions and can't process information quickly enough against the SEC BIG BOYS. He should be improved from 2015 to 2016, but will not be improved enough from one Spring practice and a Summer to lead the Tigers to an SEC West/SEC Championship. All the pieces are in place except for QB and that's solely the fault of the Head Coach. That's just the reality of the situation. No S.Pumping is going to change that...........................
Why do you follow lsu? It seems you are unhappy a lot...maybe you should take up fishing or something
I said that about Jennings, I also said Harris was a lot better of a QB than Jennings and I stand by that. His ability to improve however depends on how he is handled by the staff. We should find out soon enough.
We would all be happier if our football and basketball coaches weren't afflicted with terminal brain fart syndrome. Damn fish aren't biting. Fire the fish! Are they getting him a brain transplant?
If you don't understand how an injury to your core could hurt the throwing motion then I can't help you friend. As far as between the ears, you can read defenses as well as Peyton Manning but if you cannot make the throw physically what good does it do? Are you really an LSU fan at all? Totally disagree....with the addition of Etling, the transfer from Purdue and the development of McMillan I think we are probably better off at QB than we've been in a while. I think we are all going to be pleasantly surprised by our QB play this year. Doesn't have to be great....just good enough.
Spring game was the SOS. Boring overall, as it is every year. Weird and disjointed format. Not even worth attending at 3pm in the afternoon. (So I didn't) Just stayed home and watched on the SEC Network. Hey LSU Athletic Department, LSU fans don't like football in the daytime in Tiger Stadium, even Spring Games!. Play it at 7pm and make it worth attending for the fans. Apparently, the majority agree, as I didn't see anybody in the stadium except for the West Side and a few in the South. Still didn't see any evidence of the emergence of a short-medium passing game that will be effective with Brandon Harris. He still can't read defenses and go through progressions. Would be just as comfortable with Etling running the team. He showed pretty good pocket presence and decent speed/mobility. Feel A LOT more comfortable with him as the backup, coming in for BH, than with any other QB of the last few years. Liked what I saw of the new Aranda defense and all of the blitzing. Still see 10-2 with this team until a legitimate and consistent passing game ascends up from the murky depths. Maybe Thunder/Lightning will strike and a miracle transformation occur over the Summer and into the Fall in regards to the Passing Game. If not, it will be a replay of last season, with us being undefeated until we play the Big Boys. You can't and wont win the SEC West/SEC without a legitimate passing threat...............
