Sounds like a good reason not to wake up early on a Sunday morning. But look who's talking, I can't remember the last time I was up this "early" on a Sunday morn.

No doubt about it. I grew up on that show and looked forward to it all week. Schaap, Conlin, Lupica (dislike him), Ryan, Albom, and quite a few others. That show was outstanding, and laid the groundwork for the explosion of sports reporter shows that are de rigeur now.

I have no idea who's on it now, but last I checked, it was terrible. They may as well have Skip Bayless on there.

It has gotten really bad lately. Like usual ESPN, they just beat topics to death and usually they are topics no one cares about.

appropriately it was his idiot son hosting. (" FOR ESPN IM JEREMY SCHAAP.")

the rest i have no clue. your required lezbo, some gay black dude and another nobody. lupica wasnt even on it who sucks but hes still good for the show.

wasnt conlin the fat dude who covered his coffee as he spit while talking? i think i heard he was dead maybe.

    i always liked mitch albom.

honestly after watching it, it was like a les miles show. i realized i had no idea what they just talked about for 30 minutes even though i was listening the entire time.

Jackie MacMullen? I watch Around the Horn (though fast forward a good bit), but she is unwatchable. Just terrible. She's got a face for radio, that's for sure.

 Yea, that's him. He was one of my favorites, and no, he's not dead! I read his columns periodically, as they're sometimes very interesting. I like the old columnists' perspective and historical references sometimes.

 Hopefully you were able "to learn stuff."

Wow, I use to watch and enjoy this show also.
Haven't really watched it since Dick Schaap passed away.
    Guess I haven't missed anything!

I too used to love that show growing up with Dick Schaap. John Saunders is the regular host but it seems like he is always on assignment. The show can still be good when Saunders hosts and someone is there to check Lupica with his nonsense. If Stephen A. Smith or Mitch Wilbon is on, I don't watch it.

ETA: Bill Conlin isn't dead. He just pulled a Jason Whitlock a few years ago and wrote a column critical of ESPN. He's been off the air on their airwaves ever since.

Yeah I used to love waking up early as a kid and watching the Sports Reporters and Outside The Lines but nowadays, they're just on too early. I rarely watch either anymore except for OTL in the afternoons in summer.
