***I'd just like to preface this post saying i don't care about the AP, for argument sakes only. Yeah I know this isn't going to be a popular subject, but just thinking on possible scenarios. Given the current AP Poll, Ohio State would move up to #1 and i'd assume that voters in this poll wouldn't have us jumping Georgia so they would be #2. If all goes according to plan and we destroy Ohio State in the BCS game and Georgia kills Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl - does Mark Richt go ahead and claim that Nat'l Championship like Pete Carrol did? I think the idea of a split title is ridiculous, but it seems possible we'll be hearing the split title stuff again with Georgia being on the other end of it ( yes, i'm making assumptions that we do get into the bcsncg and win ).
Based on the fact that the SEC refs handed Tennessee a bogus win in the Kentucky game by allowing a ball that hit the ground to be called a TD, Georgia has every right to claim equity. It would be ironic for 2 SEC teams to both claim the NC, but in reality it should have been LSU vs Georgia in the SEC CG in the first place.
Didn't hawaii get beat down last night?? I didn't watch the whole game so I don't know the final, but when I stopped watchin it wasn't looking good for them. If they did indeed lose, GA defeating them wouldn't be a huge accomplishment. I can't see how that would be worthy of a split title. The NCG is the game between the 2 best teams playing against each other. I think the split title crap is BS.
And we won't get to see that because the 2 best teams in the SEC and country were screwed out of a matchup because SEC refs once again cheated just like they did in the LSU-Auburn replay fiasco.
I don't think anyone should be able to play in a national championship game unless they win their conference championship game. I don't think anyone should be able to claim anything, it should be decided on the grid iron. I think everyone should play in a conference championship game. I think calls in football are just part of the game, they always have been and always will be. Why didn't they use instant replay on that play anyway? I think the current system is screwed up and it ruins the college sport. Worse case scenario, I would rather share with Georgia than USC.
I agree, but the system doest go by hypotheticals so what's done is done. We might have killed GA in the seccg if we would have played them which would have dropped their ranking. I totally understand the point that is being made, but I just see no way that anyone playing hawaii can attempt to claim a split nc.
