Actually, you can tell that to almost every single sports fan, media outlet and talking head but it falls on deaf ears. The AP was arguably the most recognized poll to determine national champions for eons. The AP Trophy is going to be claimed by whoever gets it and if its different than the BCS everyone but the BCS winner will call it a split. I think the AP has been marginalized with the advent of the BCS but it still carries some meaning and will go into almost all record books as a split if different teams win. *shrugs* I dont really care if the condoms want to claim their AP trophy. If the circumstances were reversed and we got cheated out of a BCS title game we may have done the same thing.

lol... not sure... kinda looks like a sprint to the finish line of mediocrity, given all the hype.

I could say it. Matter of fact I will say it. Texas beat Oklahoma head to head on a neutral field. All this BCS bull**** about strength of schedule, style points, overall body of work (?) and I hate that kind of language, has gone too far. It has permeated our society till people are not making sense any more.

Texas and Oklahoma hate each other. Both teams were sky high for this game. This is the only game either team plays in this stadium during regular season. The crowd is divided 50/50. Dallas is actually closer to Norman than Austin. NEUTRAL FIELD! They lined up and played it out and Texas won 45-35.

Texas is better than Oklahoma and they proved it. If Florida beats Oklahoma would you then vote for Oklahoma as the national champs because of strength of schedule, overall body of work and style points?

I tell you, I just don't know any more.

I'm not disputing the relevancy of the AP title in its time. The major conference players agreed some time ago that the BCS title, :crystal:, was the only recognized national championship. Notre Dame is the only institution other than USC that I would envision laying claim to an AP trophy as a mythical national championship.

A split title would be a good thing. The more egg the BCS has on it's face the more likely we are to get a legitimate solution.

We would all love to see a playoff implemented tomorrow.

However the BCS' current TV contracts run thru 2014 so I wouldn't hold my breath for a playoff until the TV contract expires.

The AP removed itself from the BCS enigma, therefore voluntarily making itself irrelevant.

well said. people with this paralysis by analysis is ridiculous. they play they won they conquered.

I love that Texas got shafted. Mostly I because I hate Texas and love hearing their fans whine, but also because every time a school gets screwed over by the current system, that's one more coach and AD on the side pushing for a playoff.

And Tubberville had a contract thru 2011. Contracts mean nothing these days, they are constantly renegotiated or voided. I don't expect a playoff any time soon but the more the BCS fails to produce a clear cut champion the closer we get.

Which ultimately means that BCS does indeed stand for bull crap system.[/quote]

Totally agree with you. It isn't any better then what we had before. Really the only difference is computers. We need a playoff.
