I think PacPete returning punts is a mistake..he's to big an asset on the defensive side of the ball to take a chance on injury ..... Thats just my opinion....
So was Deion and Charles Woodson. Honestly, no offense, but I cannot stand this point of view. Put the best players on the field at all times...period. Also, show me the stats on the injuries that occur to punt returners. Good luck finding them.
I agree...If he is the best he should be on the field...I guess what i'm getting at is this..is the difference between him and our #2 return guy enough to risk losing the unquestionably best player and heart of our defense..if the coaches feel it is, i'm not gonna argue, they are there day in and day out..
Correct. Plus, he isn't necessarily back there for his return ability. He's back there because he can field a punt...AND do something after he does so. It's why TH didn't return many punts, but did kickoffs. A lot easier to catch a kickoff than a punt. I also think Shep should be returning kickoffs...for the same reason TH did. But I don't think Shep should be returning punts at this point. Not a "safety" thing though...just not sure he has the hands for it.
I was trying to figure it out, but I'm horrible at stats unless I look em up. I figured it would be pretty close to 0, though. I was being more optimistic about the yards, but since I was close, what do I win?
Had you gotten within a yd before time expired, the prize was a slightly used bay boat. But since you were over a yd off...and time has now expired, I have a leaky old canoe as a parting gift...but you have to come get it...and you have to go thru Baxterville to get there.
Helton has an all star leg. His hang time is pretty damn good, contributing well to the coverage down field. I do not know exactly how many but I was amazed at how many punts were placed well inside the 10 yard line last year. My "guess" is it was done at least 10 times, or somewhere close to that number.
