You could also say our punter has shanked a few, to many in my opinion for his experience level and this early in the season......I mean doesn't he just fucking punt all day long in practice? Maybe know one or two trick plays, otherwise just kick the fucking ball.
Are they trying to get him to directional kick though? I don't see any scenario with a guy who has a fucking big Bertha for a leg would shank so many unless he was trying to kick it to a certain spot instead of just ripping it.
They try to kick it high so that it has to be fair caught. If they can they try to drop it inside the 20, near the sideline so the returner doesn't have the whole field to choose. It's harder than it looks, especially when you are being rushed, as he was on that shank last week. The best punting we ever had was when we had two punters under Dinardo. One only punted long and he set an NCAA record with a 50-yard average over a season. The other was a pooch punter who only kicked short and routinely kicked them out of bounds inside the 10. I still think that is the best way to get the most out of your punters. Specialize them.
Never was a fan of Callaway, maybe he should trade it for an R15 or maybe the new M1 ( I haven't hit that one yet)
Figures, the atmosphere over at the apologist club is much more fitting for him. He runs his lunch with a scout routine and grads panties melt right off
