It was great to see these players be exactly the way the announcers were saying the needed to be: They needed to want the gold as much as the Europeans. I think they finally understand why they are in the Olympics. I loved seeing these guys at other sports cheering on Phelps, Walsh, May, etc...
Maybe it was just me but I did not think anyone on the USA team did that great this morning. D Wade had a killer 1st half and would be my MVP for the game. Kobe knocked down some shots at the end but that was after shooting a few brick 3 pointers when we should have been driving the basket at that point in the game. He settled for some shots when we were shooting horrible from 3. Overall, the team played the worst game of the Olympics this summer but still pulled it out in the end.
Damn...there's a lot of hate for Chris Paul and the Hornets. I don't recall anybody saying Kobe Bryant sucks or isn't one of the greatest of all time. I believe the comments were that the tie breaker for MVP shouldn't be based on the fact he'd never won it before, that he's not a team player, that he hates when someone else gets more attention than him, and that he's not a very classy guy. I didn't see where any of those things changed as a result of these games. He took and missed a lot of bad shots in lieu of passing the ball. Maybe I missed it but I don't recall anyone saying Paul was the greatest player in the world. He's very young and should only get better but I don't think he'll threaten anyone's scoring average because he does something many other players won't...pass the ball. If he continues to maintain his averages for points and ASSISTS, he'll be a great player for years. I could care less who's considered the best ever in sports. It's highly subjective and usually results in arguments from Kobe or T.O.-type jock sniffers. Glad to see that Kobe could finally win something without Shaq.
Shhhhhhhhh. You are right, he took some bad shots -- I was mainly talking about the end, though. I was just messin with you.
