That is almost 60,000 miles!!!!! Geostationary orbit, at the equator is about 22,000. Could that be a typo?

Doubt it as it doesn’t lend itself to video.

I “discovered” Scalzi back in several years ago. Went through his books, quickly. Enjoyed them. Wish he was more prolific.

A moon bar fight would be fascinating, at 1/6th Earth's gravity. For it to last you'd need to hold on to each other like 2 hockey players. My dream is to be the first person to smoke cannabis on the moon.

Physicist Neil deGrasse Tyson is in favor of a Space Force. He said that the Air Force used to be part of the Army, but really needed independence to excel in their arena. The Space Force as well has different variables to contend with (i.e. there's no or negligible aerodynamics in Space, etc.).
A Space Force would have tremendous value, well worth the cost:
    - The protection of our Satellites is critical to our modern civilization.
    - Can easily take out long range ICBMs
    - Would be relatively quick to travel out and intercept catastrophic asteroids and change their trajectory. A small change can make a world of difference. (Other countries should help foot the bill on this one)
    - Clean up all the space junk orbiting earth, like bolts, washers, etc...
    - Somewhere down the line the presence of the Space Force and the technology developed will result in colonizing the Moon, and bigger space stations -- orbiting artificial cities. Space cars, space bars, space Swedish massage parlors. I can't fricking wait (Heavy duty Stem Cell therapy willing)
