The deck we were talking about then still hasn't happened. This is not going to be a full-height deck matching the sideline decks seamlessly. That would have added another 10-12,000 upper deck seats that would have been extremely hard to sell. It would also have blocked South Stadium Drive.

This is a smaller deck that is almost all clubseats and skyboxes, which there is a demand for. Only 1,500 "regular" seats were added to get the capacity to 100,000 and, at the insistence of a few TAF board members, these will be offered for only $20-25. In this fashion they hope not have have lots of empty seats, like we already have in OOC games.

This will not be the financial boondoggle the original upper deck plan would have been. But it is still tall enough to block more southern sunlight. I worry about the field getting enough light for good turf. Some other stadiums have been forced to artificial turf because of upper deck blockage.

This is not directed at you, Ginger, but there's no reason college fields aren't all be turf by now. Many high schools in Texas are. No one said football had to be played in grass any more than they said it had to be played outside. We have enclosed stadiums...

Tiger Stadium is a traditional grass stadium. Most want it to stay that way.
