It's a hard find, but honestly a lone student has a gun, not expecting he is going to have to use it, someone comes in and starts blasting, I would think the chances of this guy preventing it would be slim to none. Maybe if it was a combat veteran. But just some normal dude? Nah I just can't see it. And if that person were to pull the gun and get ready to fire, chances are he shoots innocents.

Louis Farrakhan stated “We need to put the American flag down. Because we’ve caught as much hell under that as the Confederate flag” in remarks before the Metropolitan AME Church in Washington, DC on Wednesday first reported by DC’s WMAL.

Farrakhan said, “White folks march with you because they don’t want you upsetting the city, they don’t give a damn about them nine.”

He added that when the police took suspected shooter Dylann Roof to Burger King they were saying “You did a good job. Kill all them [bleep.]”

Later, he declared, “I don’t know what the hell the fight is about over the Confederate flag. We need to put the American flag down. Because we’ve caught as much hell under that as the Confederate flag,” comments that were meant with cheers and applause. He added, “Who are we fighting today? It’s the people that carry the American flag.”

The thing that I am finding disgusting currently on Facebook is seeing how many of my ignorant former classmates and students in Livingston Parish are up in arms over the Confederate flag debate. The knee-jerk defensiveness on display is making me sick. One woman even changed her freakin' profile picture to the Confederate flag. How stupid is that?

It made me very happy that I left a place with so many narrow-minded people who like other people--if they look the same as them and think the same as them.

I agree with what you say Stacy. The flag should only be public ally displayed in museums if individuals want to show it in their private property so be it. I'm also appalled by the rush to go beyond that. Do you know Mitch Landrieu wants to remove RE Lee's statue from Lee Circle and PGT Beauregard's from City Park? That is changing the character of the city and denying history. The Civil War is part of history and that history needs to be remembered. It's a lesson that both slavery and succession were wrong. It is also a remember acne of the valiant spirit of the people who fought against all odds, a spirit that was converted to patriotism that has made the south the heart of our armed forces.

How many of these states erected monuments to the civil rights movement?

I'm fine with acknowledging confederate history, but so many of these states are fixated on confederate history. South Carolina and Georgia had pivital roles in the American Revolution, but you never hear about that.
