BOUNTY PUNISHMENTS: Vilma suspended for the season- Fujita gets 3 games, Hargrove gets 8 games, Will Smith gets 4 games.

The league press release specifically says Vilma offered 10k for knocking out Warner and Favre. I'm not surprised one bit.

Also from the release, Smith helped Williams monitor the program and offered money. Fujita offered money. Anthony Hargrove was apparently "a" whistleblower, if not "the" whistleblower. Yet he obstructed the investigation by lieing about it later.

Don't misunderstand; I think the season is quite extreme. But I'm looking at it from the opposite angle. "22 to 27 players involved", yet the only names of active Saints we heard throughout the investigation were Vilma, Smith and Harper. I had visions of a long list of players getting 2-4 game suspensions, and us having to cobble together a different starting lineup for every game. We'll miss Vilma, and I think its very unfair that, at age 32, he doesn't have much football left anyway. But as a team, we could have been hurt a lot worse.

Yep...as unfair as it is that Vilma is a lamb led to the slaughter as a sacrifice to god-ell...we are lucky to only have 2 players suspended.

As much as I love justice, making an example out of a few players when this was actually an inconsequential, league wide thing is just not fair.

It really was, as I posted before, the moral equivalent of giving your kid $5 for every "A" he brings home on his report card. You don't want your kid to cheat or break the rules, but....

Yes. As a team, we dodged a bullet as far as player suspensions. But you have to feel bad for Jonathan Vilma.
