... was it really a good idea to move Russell Shepard from QB? With his athleticism, I find it hard to believe he couldn't have done a better job at QB than Jordan Jefferson. I know hindsight is 20/20, but why would you have him change positions when the guy in the most important position on your team is Jordan Jefferson. We'll never know, but after watching the BCS game, I sure wonder...

He couldn't throw. He was worse than JJ as hard as that is to believe.

I can't believe it, Kajun. I am pretty sure he could have done a hell of a lot better job running the option. Why use JJ as your running QB when you've got Shepard on scholarship? Highly questionable strategy IMO.

That's one area where I think the coaches were in the best position to evaluate the talent and make the decisions on who played and where.

99.9% of the time I would agree with you completely. But did you see Jefferson's last two seasons?

Yeah, Shep couldn't throw. He was recruited for his legs and athleticism, not his arm. Go back and look at his high school highlights if you don't remember.

Yes, but in Shepard's last 2 seasons, you didn't see what he could do with the ball in his hands every play. I would rather have the ball in one of my best athlete's hands on every play, rather than have the ball in my 30th or 40th best athlete's hands on every play. Especially when that athlete has not shown the ability to throw accurately, read coverage, go through progressions or get the ball out on time. Given what I saw from the QB we did play, I would have liked to have seen us just put one of our best athletes back there and see what happened. Again, I realize hindsight is 20/20. Just saying...

I really think Les expected JJ to develop. Unfortunately, he really never did. He was as good as a freshman as he was as a senior. In hindsight, the confidence and loyalty Les placed in JJ was obviously badly misplaced. The bar fight before the season, to me, spoke volumes about why JJ never really developed....

WTT - man you are really fixating on the what-if's, doesn't matter what Shep could have done he is not in a position to do it. All that matter's is in his last year here are the coaches actually going to use his talents or are they going to be wasted like they were this year, only time will tell.
