And what makes that work? The dozens of slant routes that we continue to throw that LSU's fans bitch about. Yeah the play book looks boring and repetitive, but that is what makes big plays like these work. Throw the slant. Throw the slant. Throw the slant. Throw the slant. Boom!
You've got a point, but the flip side of that is after the 2nd or 3rd slant, before the slant and go, the DB jumps the route and pick/6s us, like what happened in the SC game. (I know it wasn't a pick/6, but SC did score a TD on that possession.)
We are a long way from gloom and doom, Miles does a lot of things really well and we definitely compete at the top. However the offensive deficiencies are so glaring and inexcusable that it causes much dismay. I dont think anyone wants to trade places with any other team, but it sure would be nice to learn from some of the better offenses. Miles inability/unwillingness to evolve offensively is very frustrating to watch.
YES! Proof positive that the QB and WR's can play this game! We have seen flashes of brilliance such as this, and there's no reason why we won't see more of it. Now, if it can all come together and click on 11/3...
To be honest, Mett needs to do some of the shit I do with him in NCAA 13 ... throw a damn pump fake one way and quit staring down your receivers.
no question we are one of the top programs in the land and can beat most any program on any given day. my concern is that as time goes on the raw but talented qbs and wr coming out of high school are going to look elsewhere to further develop their professional potential. it just makes sense to be as well rounded as possible. it just so happens the weak link year after year has been on the same side of the ball as our hc expertise is on. don't get me wrong, i love clm as a man, role model, and recruiter. however, the top ceo's in the land know their strong points as well as their weak points and gets help where needed. even though our program is one of the best any given day of the week our offense has resided 100 or higher for too long. those stats do not reflect an elite program.
But that is flawed logic. The biggest stat, wins vs. losses, suggest that we are very much among the elite programs in the nation.
FANTASTIC thread! I liked when we had Louisiana Tech on the schedule. Though that may not be such a good idea after this year's performance against Towson. It's unbelievable to think that LSU couldn't pull in talent at the quarterback position that considerably surpasses that of ULM and La Tech. That should tell you something about Les Miles. We may have a quarterback of ULM, or La Tech's caliber on the bench. Although, I don't know all that much about the backups besides their names and a bit of history. I'm not saying we have some silver bullet solution for quarterback on the bench. Only throwing forth the oft discussed issue of talent not being correctly utilized by Les Miles. Did anyone see ULM's quarterback play against Willie Taggart's Western Kentucky last week? It was an exciting game. I really wanted WKU to win. They would have entered the top 25 had they won. That didn't happen though. WKU did still garner a few votes even after losing in overtime. ULM's Kolton Browning does a whole lot to extend seemingly dead plays and comes through with big breaks. Willie Taggart has really done a phenomenal job at WKU. They were winless when he arrived. WKU had a nice little streak going. Before the loss to ULM last week, they'd only incurred one additional loss since playing in Tiger Stadium last year. That loss was at the hands of Alabama. So before the ULM loss, their last two losses were to the then #1 teams.
