I've never understood why more coaches don't clamp down on trash talking. It's extremely basic. Emotion is the fuel of a football player. Talking trash, belittling, insulting all adds fuel to your opponent's engine. It simply isn't smart. Not to mention you look like an ass when you do it.
not to mention you look like a bigger ass when the opposing team follows it up with a spectacular play!
The best example of this was when Penn St had the ball on their 15 or 20 and the QB ran for a 1st down with 5 yards to spare and Perry Reily gets up swinging his arms signaling that he did not make the 1st. That'll move the Chains!
I have been thinking about this tonight while posting. The problem is that we went from one extreme to the other as far as coaches. We went from a dictator type to an appeaser of sorts. The truth is that we needed someone in the middle, a moderate!:lol: Red, where are you?opcorn:
I don't mind a little trash talking if the trash talking started with the opposition. I don't like starting it though.
