Even if Joe Montanna is your QB, and Peyton Manning is your back-up, if you gain yards running on first down in that situation, you keep running. LOw risk, High reward.
Yes but all that pass yardage came because LSU was in catch-up mode and needed yards fast, you dont expect LSU to run the ball when down by 13. LSU had control of the game after Ole Miss fumbled and running the ball is generally safe and gains some yardage. But yeah the team played great in the 4th quarter and OT, outscored ole miss 16-0
These posts almost make me wish he woulda missed the kick with LSU winning in the 2nd OT with a TD. People wouldn't be saying what they are saying on here now.
Sorry but there was 12 minutes left at that point. We weren't desperate at that point. The problem was running JV and AB for the first 3 quarters, as if we felt sorry for them or something. Then when the Les Miles/Dumbo Fisher brain trust FINALLY decided we might actually lose this game, they finally wised up and went with the obvious. The passing game. Had little to do with being forced to pass only.
Are you familiar with the expression "Hung on his own petard"? You should, seriously, quit while you're behind.
Everybody thinks the OC can simply will a good play. That's why you get comments like these. Message board lexicon (regardless of formation or down and distance): Successful runs = 'dominating'. Successful passes = 'mixing it up'. Unsuccessful runs = 'predictable' Unsuccessful passes = 'took too many risks' Bottom Line tonight: LSU got schooled on special teams and couldn't turn it around on defense until the 4th qtr, but the offense came through. Jimbo will be a head coach soon, will you? GEAUX TIGERS (Roast the Piggies)
I don't expect LSU to run the ball because it wasn't working. Not because of the clock. Refer to the Auburn game. That was ACT 1 of this sad saga. Didn't start passing until it was too late. ACT 2 nearly took place tonight. We'll see what the Arkansas game has in store for us. The saga continues.
