That football that Ciron had his teammates sign for Mikey wasn't just any old football. According to the Advocate, that football was Ciron’s game ball from the SEC Championship Game!!!
Finally, I want to point out the unsung hero in all this. Ciron would have never heard about Mikey, and this whole beautiful story would have never happened, had it not been for an anonymous friend of the family who recognized that the #70 worn by Mikey and his brother in the pictures on his CaringBridge webpage was the same number of LSU's Ciron Black. As the Advocate explains, this anonymous woman sent Ciron a message on Ciron's Facebook page, including a link to Mikey's CaringBridge webpage. That act of thoughtfulness was what made this whole beautiful story possible to warm all of our hearts this Christmas. The moral of the story, as Ciron himself told the Advocate, is: "Whatever I can do, whatever anybody can do to help anybody ... just do whatever you can." You don't have to be rich or famous to help people. All you have to do is be thoughtful of your fellow humans, and go out of your way to do something nice for them. This is exactly what the anonymous friend of the family did for Mikey. And the rest is history. That's the true Christian spirit, the spirit that we all celebrate today as we honor Christ's coming to Earth. Merry Christmas, everybody!!!
