Happened to Carson Palmer last year, and to Antonio Cromartie the year before that

I bruised mine and broke several ribs on July 30. I fell from a ladder at a height of about 8 feet and landed on the back of my left shoulder. I now know what it must feel like to get steamrolled by somebody like KeKe. Just now getting to where it's not excruciatingly painful to cough.

Falls from Ladders are second only to automobile accidents in terms of death rates. You're lucky. Use the ladder as directed, find a stable spot to set up, don't climb too high, and keep your belt buckle between the rails. Failure to do these things might cost you and your family everything.

(I work at Exxon, and these things are just POUNDED into us)

You are right. The doc told me as much. This was easily avoidable, but I just had to get that one last dead limb out of the tree. On the way to the ground, I was thinking "this is really gonna suck". I've never been hit that hard in my life. I've heard that for people my age, falls over 4 feet can be fatal.

My best friend's father-in-law fell from a ladder while trimming trees in his yard--while he had a chainsaw in his hands. Let's just say that his face has never been the same, he lost vision in the eye that had to be put back in his face, and he came really, really close to dying.

My brother in law lives out in the country, not even sure if it really even has an address. A couple years ago I needed some firewood for my lake house and he had a few trees that were leaning over so I went to cut them down for him. I had to get up to the top to trim it up so it would fall where I wanted it to and not on his house. I had my knuckle head son with me and realized about half way up that if something bad happened I was probably going to die. I looked down at him and said "You do know what to do if I fall out of this damn tree missing parts right"? I told him, just dial 911 and tell them something bad has happened and stay on the line, they will find us, I hope.
