The national championship game once again proved the power of sports to unite http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-championship-games-plaschke-20170110-story.html Sports are special, unique ability to bring people together,.. the only thing my step-dad and I had in common, and could talk about were the 49ers,.. and here, Democrats and Republicans,.. With regards to the 'pick,' I don't understand what the argument even is. Marlon Humphrey pulled the wide out by the back of his jersey and pushed him into the ground. If anything, that's a penalty on Alabama, not Clemson. That's without mentioning that the wideout never even touched Tony Brown, who was covering the slot WR. Edit: On second look, I guess I can see someone saying the wide out went at Humphrey, or more likely just stumbled, and not the other way around, but there's still no contact with Brown.
I'm sure their coach is going to scold them, like he did when they emptied the stadium at halftime when they were up 50 against a directional school.
I still think a great D beats a great O more times than not. It's about match ups. LSU would match up better with Clemson probably better than Bama. LSU has a quicker overall team, with better DB's. Bama matches up better with LSU because we play a similar style, but they have better line play. I feel strongly that the '11 team is better. Their O was better, more balanced. The front 7 was even better than this year, plus a better secondary. This year's team was just amazing at causing TO's and turning them into points. I do agree though that Bama does have issues with defending a running QB, who throws well.
Buddy in Bham says they have started accepting the loss since it came from one of their own but pondered how long it would be before that leads to a partial claim of championship. 126.25 and counting!
