Last night at the game the Band played the Wizard of Oz song... the one that the wicked witches soldiers sang when they were marching... does anyone know where to get that, or if it is even available anywhere... also the song they won the Battle of the Bands with?
woah! they played the O-E-O song again? Did they do it after touchdowns/before kickoffs again or at some other point?
They started playing it again against Bama last week. After TDs against Bama. I'm one of those fans that left early last night and I don't think they had reason to play it before I left.
I dont remember exactly when they played it... I know it was before halftime.... but it was awesome... want to find it and some other band songs... I am making a Gameday cd so far I have Saturday Night Baton Rouge Eye of the Tiger Coming to Your City (College Gameday Version) The Neck Fight Song Going to the Ship Shirley Q Liquor Pregame Drum Cadences Geaux Tigers Chinese Bandits.. and a few others that I cant remember right now...
O-E-O is not recorded, its an old band tradition that the students caught on to a few years back and started chanting vulgarities with it. It's played after Fight for LSU when we score until the ball is signaled ready for play for the kickoff, but not every time now as they play Neck and a few other things during that break now. They took it away and then for the BAMA game, the students were told if they chant Tigers and nothing else, it would stay. I would say they are still cautious just like they will be cautious of bringing Tiger Rag back when it finally comes back. Tigerband doesn't want to be seen leading a cheer with vulgarities in it. If you go to Tigerama you will get to hear the Indiana Jones tune. It should be this week sometime. Also, if you know one of the band members, you will be able to get it next year after they get their CD's. otherwise, you are going to have to find a video that you can rip the song from. They don't make the yearly CD's available to the public for copyright reasons.
The Oh-ee-Oh is played after the TD for LSU and is going to go away again if the student body isn't careful. The band tried it out at the Bama pregame and everyone followed through with the "Tigers" chant then but when it came time to play after a TD the "You suck" came back for about 1/2 of the student section. I did notice in the Troy game, after most had left, that the area in front of the cheerleaders in the northeast endzone stuck with the "Tigers" chant. Not sure what the difference is between the students in the north endzone and the ones in the northwest but it was obvious the ones in the north were trying to push things in both games.
Greeks and other student organizations have the seats with the backs that are part of the student section. In general, they are the last students to show up and the first to leave if its a blowout either way. (in general, not always) They started the boo's for Lee this last week too.
