Softball was invented in 1887 in Chicago, Illinois, United States as an indoor game. It was at various times called indoor baseball, mush ball, playground, softball, kitten ball, and because it was also played by women, ladies' baseball. The name softball was given to the game in 1926, because the ball used to be soft. I didn't look that far but I'll be the original rules said that a player could not re-enter the game once she has been removed. What's to stop a coach from using 2 pitchers for a whole game - One to pitch to right handed hitters and the other to pitch to left handed hitters? It's probably been tried. Or just use a third pitcher who is a strikeout specialist when the bases are loaded.
Thanks for the history lesson, Sherlock. Who GAF what the "original" rules stated? Baseball still playing by the "Original" rules? First of all, they can just renter the game one time. Secondly, this is more what baseball does than softball.
Its garbage. I heard one of the announcers the other day saying some girl had pitched like the last 9 games for some team. Ridiculous. It is trash and on the same level as pro wrestling.
Wrong, dumbass, take a pitcher off the mound he is done, he can't come back later and pitch to some guy he matches up well against, oh but in that organized grabass you like to call a sport they can do it all game long. Watch who takes the mound in the next game, I bet you see the same faces you saw last night. Hee Haww, Ride that donkey baw
What I didn't miss was a pitcher was in the game as a pitcher, then left the mound so someone else could pitch, then later on came back and pitched some more. B-U-L-L-S-H-I-T is what that is called. Girls, what do you expect
Boys are too big a pussies to do that. Run around with jackets over pitching arms and ice wraps. I'd love to see HOW BIG a tampon they'd need, if they needed one,
