I have indeed done so. Once again, you describe yourself. I do not ridicule religious people simply because I am courteous and kind. You are being particularly foolish today. Imagination is the ability of forming mental images, sensations and concepts. It is essential to education. It plays an vital role in science and philosophy. Imagination goes hand-in-hand with creativity, ingenuity, and innovation . . . all human virtues essential to logic and science.
do you ridicule anything, ever? what could possibly me more irrational or based on less evidence than religion? and what is more damaging to society? would you mock scientology when they say aliens named xenu or whatever did things? how could you not ridicule that? how few people would a religion need before you would ridicule it? if i had my own martinism, and it was stupid (and really, we both know i do) would you ridicule it? shouldnt you? how would martinism be more absurd than any other religion?
I ridicule some ideas. I only ridicule people that I'm trying to piss off. Pissing people off is a detriment to good discussion. This is a lesson you have yet to learn, Grasshoppa. For the last time, it's not about religion, its about civility. You also have the odd notion that mocking and jeering those who don't share your disbeliefs is some sort of ritual duty that you must perform to exorcize the deities possessing religious people. All it does is piss them off.
i just dont believe that there is nobility in faith. there should be shame. its not uncivil to be honest with people when they have the worldview of a bronze age peasant.
There need be neither shame nor nobility, only civil disagreement. You have a warped sense of honesty. Do you really think it requires ridicule?
we should have higher standards. people should be ashamed to tell each other stupid lies and fantasies. if you had never heard of christianity, and some guy came forward with it now, and nobody believed it, and he was saying god sent a magic son last weekend or whatever, and the guy was magic, and he was killed and this forgave us for doing things that this god character hates or whatever, you would say it was the stupidest thing you have ever heard. but you are brainwashed.
Shame is a religious thing, father martin. I am shameless. I might say that to you. But if I was trying to have a discussion on religion with the guy, I would not undermine it by insulting him. Your conviction that you must ridicule those with whom you disagree sabotages conversation. No, I am immune to your shaming tactics.
