YouTube - The 2009 LSU Offense Hype Video Man, watch JJ throw and the move show such poise. Will someone start polishing the Heisman?? - I kid, I kid...but he does look good...poised. And this "Gulf Coast Tiger" that made these videos? Hats off man. Incredible.:thumb::thumb:
Now that I've looked at it, I'm not sure our schedule is really THAT tough next year. I mean, we're in the SEC, so it will always be tough. And our schedule may be a little tougher than some others in the SEC (mostly because we have three not-so-easy road games). But looking at the whole thing, it's perfect for this year. Six out of the twelve we play made bowls last year. Our first four: @Washington Vandy ULL @Miss St. Now, no wins are ever certain, but.....Washington couldn't be worse. Vandy ended the season well with a bowl victory and could beat us with a good night. But it's our first home game so that's a big advantage for us. ULL is ULL. Miss St. is Miss St. with a new coach. Vandy seems like it could be the only team to really make us break a sweat. The next four: @Georgia Florida Auburn Tulane It's never easy to play at Georgia. But this is the best year to be playing there if you have to play them. They lost their star QB (Stafford), their star RB (Knowshon) and one of their star WRs (Massaquoi). Now, they have that awesome WR Green who is coming back. But they'll be playing a QB with just a little experience and they don't have a proven RB. Those were the main components for them last year. Plus, we owe them for the last few azz whippings. Florida is awesome obviously. But at least we get them at home at night on CBS. We'll definitely have the atmosphere in our favor and Harvin is gone (which should help a lot). They'll still be really tought to beat tough with Tebow and co. Nobody knows what the hell Auburn is gonna do, but let's just say I don't expect them to be last year's Bama. They don't seem real scary right now. We have an off week before we play them as well. Tulane is Tulane. The last four: @Alabama La Tech @Ole Miss Arkansas Bama should be tough as usual, but we usually play better over there than at home against them. They lost a lot last year as well. Plus, we need to keep our streak going over there. I think it will be 10 years since they last beat us at home when we play them there. La. Tech went to a bowl last year and should be decent. But they never seem to give us any problems. Ole Miss should be tough because they should be pretty good and hungry to beat us at their house for the first time in quite some time if my memory is correct. Arkansas is back to Saturday now and we should really want to kick their azz after the last few years. So, considering that we will be playing with a new defensive scheme and a QB that still doesn't have a ton of experience. I'd say it's a favorable schedule. Those first four games give us time to work out kinks in the D and learn the system better. They'll give our QB some more road tests that aren't too difficult and more game experience as well.
Other than opening on the road, the first four games do seem like a good workup for a new quarterback. But after that we play four top-10 contenders and three of them are on the road. Its always tough to win on the road in the SEC.
Some thoughts/predictions from reading this thread: 1) I can't wait for the season to start already. 2) I don't think Ole Miss is going to be able to run the ball. They may be pretty good on defense, but Snead can't do it all on O. 3) Auburn will be better than people think. Whatever Chizik did at Iowa St. is history. I like both coordinator hires, and they do still have talent, especially on defense. Passing game is suspect. 4) Alabama will be a good team, but not good enough to beat the great teams. The QB play will not be there. 5) We will be a great team. 6) Arkansas scares me a little. I don't think they lost a single pass catcher from a year ago, and Petrino likes to throw it around. I'm not sure how this Mallett kid will look, but I've been hearing about him for years. By the end of the year, they could be tough. 7) I think each QB can do the job, even Hatch, had he stuck around. JJ is my pick, though. He's poised under center, and even more importantly, I'm poised when he's under center. Plus, he has wheels, which gives him another dimension that must be defended. 8) AJ Green is every bit the receiver that Julio is. 9) I haven't been this excited about our TE play since Robert Royal. 10) Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson are already annoying the hell out of me. 11) I'm going to enjoy saying T-Bob. 12) There may be two better receivers, but there will not be two better receivers on the same team than Tolliver and LaFell.
Yeah, we definitely have some challenging road games. But the beginning of our schedule is the easiest out of any of the current and traditional big boys of the SEC. Bama begins @Virginia Tech. Ole Miss has three road games against bowl teams from last year in their first four (@Memphis, @South Carolina, @Vandy). Georgia looks like they have the toughest schedule in the nation again with six road games and four of those being against bowl teams from last year. The other two are tough places to play as well. Tennessee is right behing Georgia with the difficulty of their schedule, etc. Normally, @Georgia, Florida and Auburn all together on the schedule would seem very bad. But Auburn doesn't look to be that much better this year, and like I said, we have an off week before them. We should be much more dangerous on offense than Georgia with all that they lost. It will depend on how much our defense has improved from last year. Florida is the toughest, but at least we'll get a shot at them with the best circumstances possible. @Ole Miss and @Bama will be tough, but at least they're not in consecutive weeks. As I said, both of them lost a lot on offense. Ole Miss will still have an experienced and talented QB, so I think they'll be our 2nd toughest game. Bama will be good on D, but replacing a monster O-lineman, a great RB and an experienced, reliable QB will be tough for them. We'll have just as much talent on the field and likely more than anyone but Florida. Oh, and MobileBengal, you have some good points, but I especially agree with #10.
Its going to be interesting to see how their o-line does, who plays, and how the running game develops after that. Their old QB didnt have good stats but he didnt have need them to beat teams. If there is decent QB play on the team, I think you will see the best WR core in the country shine. Having RD in there will only make things better. Id also like to see some of the younger guys on defense get some playing time, or at least see how good they are.
for this team, it would be better to flip the home/away. all these tough away games make 4+ losses more likely uga will be better than you think (ok this is probably because i hear about them ad nauseum) but the value of skill players are always overrated and uga's lines will be better than last year. king and ealey may be more productive running through huge holes than moreno was running through cracks.
It's the typical SEC slugfest, flipping the home/aways likely doesn't do that much, 4+ losses is overly pessimistic IMO. I don't see a single team on that schedule we're not capable of beating, especially with all the rookie QBs starting this year.
id say out of the UF, Bama, UGA and OM games there's likely 2 losses, and quite possibly 3. then there's still a decent chance of losing to AU, Arky and bowl. anyway, i wrote "more likely" not "likely"
