JJ's success against A&M came from establishing the running game, and some smart decisions to tuck and run early on that forced the Aggies to respect that part of his game, and took some of the edge off their pass rush. Nothing wrong with that if we can get it on a consistent basis, but if we are in a position where we need the QB to make big plays, Mett's going to be our best option.
Sounds more and more like a two-quarterback season. Mettenberger to move the team downfield and Jefferson to complicate matters for the defense inside the 20. With an experienced senior reserve like Lee to step in for anyone hurt, quarterback could be a lot stronger position this year. A lot depends on Kragthorpe. He's really the unknown quantity here.
Yea we don't need him to be a gunslinger and he made big plays last year with his arm and legs. Consistency is the key and with his experience he would be the best option if it all works out for him. Mett is going to get his time and he need the experience, no doubt. But I hope we can bring him in and not look obvious to the defense. They know he is not running so balance will also be the key with a 2 QB system if it comes to that. Red is on point about Krag, we will not know until we see the product on the field.
Mett didn't look too bad himself when he scrambled in the spring game, of course, he can't run like Jefferson.
i'm just trying to figure out why this couldnt go here... http://forums.tigerfan.com/tigers-den/105241-so-who-starting-qb.html
