This is most certainly Jefferson's gig and Les will do everything possible to keep it that way. It's his senior QB. In Les' eyes, he deserves to be the starter, no matter how badly he performs.
Les had no one to turn to last year so not really the same situation this year. Mett will come in and get reps and we will use him more if JJ flops. Last year JJ increasingly got better and won games but wasn't to the point we needed him at until the bowl game.
My thoughts exactly. I don't think he will pull JJ. Having said that, gosh I hope Jefferson can muster a magical season or the Tigers and himself.:geauxtige
Hopefully having three QBs competing for the job does not end up like the last time that I recall. In that case, we had the incoming highly-touted QB coming back FROM minor league baseball (Josh Booty). There are some similarities, such as that everyone expected it to come down to a returning QB (JJ / Rohan Davey) versus the golden child (Mett / Booty). Then, everyone got Dinardo'd with the decision to start the "other guy" (Nall) in the opener before playing musical QBs for the rest of the year. On one hand, I like having three QBs in the mix. On the other hand, that seems to be one too many. Without having any redshirts available, I guess there aren't any other options.
