Not win a championship? I went back to '55 using the AP prior to the BCS. OU , GA AUB, CLEMSON LSU , PENN ST SYR , MIA MINN , BYU ALA , COL USC , FSU TX , FLA ND , TENN OSU, Mich NEB PITT Are listed as winners. There are a lot of "dual" or co champions in that time frame, for instance the year Minn is credited as winning it so is Ole Miss. Funny thing is Ole Miss was undefeated that year and Minn had 2 "second place finishes". So looking at the list, who has the best program that is not listed? Arkansas maybe? Va Tech? UCLA? let the debate begin!
Since 1955: Texas A & M - 20 top 25, 7 top 10 Va Tech - 16 top 25, 4 top 10 Ga tech - 16 top 25, 5 top 10 Arky - 22 top 25, 12 top 10 Michigan St - 15 top 25, 12 top 10
didn't Georgia Tech share a national championship with someone in the either late 80's or early 90's?
Good catch, Ga Tech in '90 was the UPI champ. I guess the UPI is pretty irrelevant though so we'll just stick with the AP to keep them in the hunt.
Yeah, but we're only talking AP (for titles pre-BCS). Arky spilt one in '64 Ole Piss has never won an AP title either, but nobody gives a sh!t so they stay off this list.
