Disagree here. Having a field destroyed by factors beyond your control (i.e. the acts of God scenario) is one thing....overplaying on that same field due to human incompetence is quite another. LSU had very little chance to win the game after it became a total joke due to 7 games in the previous week. An embarassment to the NCAA...LSU had nothing to be ashamed about. There was no bad coaching by LSU in that game...unless someone is claiming that Les Miles encouraged all those games to chew up the field into an unusable state.
I agree I do not blame Les for the Cap One bowl. The field took away LSU's dramatic advantage. Its speed..... I still remember Holiday trying to make a cut and literally an entire patch of sod came up. Nope sorry Penn State fans. If that game was played on astro turf. LSU would have hammered them. I firmly believe that. Penn State is a slow smash mouth football team its Big 10 football. LSU then and even now was built on speed... When you take away that sizeable advantage. You get the cap one bowl. Sorry that loss was all the Cap One bowls fault. the last game which we dare not speak of. I agree was not his best moment as a coach
Unfortunate but necessary. This is THE game that set up the greatest game ever played in the Cap bowl series the following year. However I do believe if Les had morphed into the power I team they finally became this past season, they get those Lions, turf or no turf.
at least given your name you are unbiased, milesthebest. No bad coaching? Lets cut the crap. The field sucked but thats clearly no excuse to suck over 60 mins to a flat out boring and less talented team in PSU. Listen Les, you sucked in that game. You should be ashamed. It was a horseshit performance to quote james ernest mora. thats right, ernest. the more you know.
The 2010 PSU vs. Ohio State game was vacated by both teams. Can the fans get their money back since the game apparently never happened?
Actually, it isn't. That is the ONLY LSU loss I have ever blamed on a field. But if you HONESTLY believe that game should even have been played, then I have a bridge in Brooklyn I think you would like to buy. That field was UNPLAYABLE! When you play 8 games in 1 week, that is exactly what happens if you have natural turf. BTW, if you want to SPIN IT that the field didn't matter, then why pray tell did that exact field get changed over to artifical turf before the next season. Those bowl guys KNEW they had screwed up.
