The problem is this isn't a true war.

In a true war, there are no rules.

The military was created for one thing, to kill people and blow **** up. Not police a terrorist state...

People want the best of both worlds, send a few troops, kill a few bad guys, and protect the all civilians. Not possible or feasible.

If we would have set a clear path to eliminating all terrorist, and any cost, thousands of civilians would have died in the crossfire, but this war would have been over 1 year after it started..

We did it to Japan, why not do it to the middle east?

Yea, but he sure as phuck accepted one of his troops shooting our guys in the back of the head.

    This entire situation is phucked.

Leave the place and bomb it back 20 years..

The middle east dosen't give a chit about anything other than their phucked up righteous religion.

    Money better spent? Fund Israel.

Why is a soldier allowed to wander off his base alone at 3AM? Why did his platoon sgt. and commander allow that to happen? I would not like to be them today. Where were the sentries? The NCO in charge of perimeter security will have a lot to answer for, too.

This craziness is what happens when you have guys on their fourth tour in ten years. Studies after WWII revealed that soldiers were physically and mentally exhausted after 200 days of combat. No use at all in any more fighting.

We have been there far too long, we should shave been out right after Bora Bora and kept up Pressure on Al Qaeda instead of being detracted into a war against The Taliban in the ongoing, thousand-year Afghan Civil War.

The Military sure seems to be turning anyone into soldiers these days. I read an article a while back about gang members joining the military and coming back to the streets and their gangs militarily trained.

I agree though, Phuck Afghanistan. Only thing they are good for is heroin and hash. Other than that, that place should just be wiped off the face of the earth.

this one soldier and the war are two completely different topics. a war where were fellas dont mentally break and start slitting throats or whatever doesnt really exist. it is the nature of war, a human constant. a certain % of fellas at war are gonna break.

Were the actions of this man consistant with U.S. policy? Of course not. Anyone who believes otherwise is either delusional or an enemy of the U.S.

In this high-tech world, there is a greatly reduced need for military forces in such dangerous and volatile environments, IMO. Greater than 90% of what we are trying to accomplish in Afghanistan could be done by remote viewing and "zapping". Maybe this event will be the catalyst to start movement in that direction.

I read an article, that's since been edited, that said he had some mental issues from an injury and also some marital problems. These in addition to the decade at war.

He was also a member of the 3rd Stryker Brigade, the brigade They were the Army's first brigade to use the Stryker.

Gangs Increasing in Military, FBI Says

    Just FYI.

Anyway, back on topic, I don't remember ever hearing about military people going nuts as much as I have over the last 5 or so years, maybe it's because of the 24hour news media these days, or maybe it's because they were better at sweeping these things under the rug back in the day.

This Soldier in Afghanistan, I mean how can we expect something like this not to happen? What if this kid had parent's that were killed in 9-11. (not that afghanistan had anything to do with 9-11, but if you listen to the media, it did) What if this kid had a buddy over there killed by some Afghan. War is hell, and like Red said, keeping some of these kids over there for extended periods of time can do nothing for them mentally.

I just hope they don't turn this kid over to the Afghan courts so they can have their own trial like that maniac ****tard p.o.s. Karzai wants. Speaking of people who need a bullet in their head.

IMO we haven't seen anything yet. A month or so ago you had a veteran kill a park ranger, now this. There is no way you can send a few hundred thousand people into a war zone for three or four years at a time and not expect there to be individuals who get overwhelmed by the consequences of fighting a war.

Think Timothy McVeigh.....veteran of the first gulf war
