Well said. I was expecting to see Fournette the whole first drive. Or at least for several straight carries. That allows the OL and back to get in a rythym. Plus it wears at the opposing DL. I like keeping backs fresh, but let your stud back get going first.

LF7 didn't need to come out of the game after only 3 plays unless he had twisted an ankle or something we don't know about.

I suspect that the game plan was always to use Fournette sparingly in this game. No better time for the two freshmen backs to get on the field. It's going to be mostly the Fournette and Williams show next week. I don't think they wanted to show State anything new. But they did want Guice and Brossette to get some plays before the SEC slugfests.

Sure, they wanted them to get in some plays but unless Les knew the game might be canceled I would rather let Fournette get into a rithym on the first drive and establish dominance over a lesser foe. Cut their heart out early and then turn it over tho the newcomers. Not that I had any fear of McNeese but they did almost upset Nebraska last year.

We really learned nothing! Most coordinators have the first 10-15 plays scripted in no set order to get a better idea for attacking the defense.

On the successful pass play, Debo Jones went around the end, did not chip the RB coming out of the backfield, closed on the QB and did not get his hands up in the air when the QB threw it. Not sure what his responsibility was on that play, but he was not On an all out blitz of the QB, and it looked like Beckwith was late sliding over to cover the RB out of the backfield. It looked like he (jones) was there more for containment vs all out to disrupt the QB. Seems like a lot of ground for Beckwith to make up to cover a RB out of the backfield without chipping the RB. I could be wrong in that, though

Harris was looking to his left the entire play. He saw Dupre late and didn't have the arm to lead him to a TD. Dupree was beyond everyone, but had to slow down for the ball.
Jennings has more passing yards than Harris at this point. :)

Good stuff, Rich is right. Dupre wasn't Harris's 1st read. Which is a good sign.

Its why these games are so important.
