In one of the articles about Manziel a couple of months ago (think it was the Wright Thompson one), Manziel's parents wanted to get vanity license plates that said "JFF Mom" and "JFF Dad". Their 16 yr old daughter talked them out of it. That article portrayed the entire family as arrogant brats with the dad having all of the same faults as Manziel.
Couldnt agree more, its unprecedented. I think LSU will knock Bama out of the picture. I think Oregon and OSU will run the table.
Not just that. To win 3 of his 4 NC's, he has needed teams ahead of him to lose in the final 2 weeks of the season to move into the top 2 in the BCS, sometimes more than one. Football is often about good and bad breaks, but that really is remarkable. And as good of a coach as he is, it's an important aspect that is often overlooked when his legacy as "greatest ever" is mulled in the media. The fact is if circumstances out of his control went the wrong way, he may only have one NC today.
I tried to explain this to some Saban-humpers before...you switch Nick and Les over the last seven years and I believe the results are more often than not the same. Bama gets the easier schedules, the blind refs, and the allure of Bama to get the top kids. Any of the top 5-6 coaches in America could have duplicated his results over there. I absolutely don't buy any of this "league of his own" crap that the media spews whenever they blow their loads over the hardware that Bama got him.
Honestly I would kinda love a Bama-Oregon NC game where Saban loses and is forever known as the coach who broke the SEC's streak on NC's hanging over his head. Couldn't happen to a more deserving person in my book...
It'll be very interesting if the Gumps are among several undefeateds at the end of the season. Bama is not dominant as it has been in past years, so they can't use their '11 BS "we're clearly the best" argument to get in, and their baby-soft schedule will also hurt them. Especially interesting now that this is the last season of the BCS beauty contest, and perhaps the last opportunity for voters to put a non-SEC team in the NCG.
