I'm actually far less impressed than I was before. Before, I was content considering the circumstances.

Youth is understandable but in no way justifies how putrid that defense was. And youth doesn't explain the same shitty soft zone defense that has lost us several big games.

Chavis' defense isn't complicated. This isn't Sabans complex, NFL defense that takes a while to pick up. Chavis defense is a basic defense that most highly recruited players already understand. The scheme sucks and the players confusion of this basic defense is frightening.

I agree. We lost 3 games last year with those NFL-ready players. 2 out of those 3 losses were lost in the final minute - just like Saturday. So in my mind that talent argument is a wash - we lost WITH talent last year the same way we lost WITHOUT talent Saturday.

The 4th quarter defensive coaching scheme needs to change. PERIOD.

I agree the QBs in the SEC are the best in quite some time. That said there is no doubt in my mind that the D is very down in the SEC. UF is the only team playing big time D. Bama is starting to come around, they are going to be solid but not nearly as dominant as previous seasons. As we all know LSU isnt in the same universe as what have recently seen.

Yeah Pride, I respect the idea SVP is bandying about, but the LSU defense was just plain awful on the level of the 2008 GA game when Stafford killed us.

I mean it was embarrassing. It wasn't Murray fitting it into tight windows, ala Drew Brees.

He was playing pitch and catch, like Peyton Manning is free to do this year, apparently.

There is no way UGA puts up that many points against the '11D. There is no way aTm puts up that many points on the '11 Bama team. The Os and QBs are much better but lets be honest. These are nowhere near the dominant SEC Ds that have brought us 7 consecutive national titles.

That streak is going to end this year. There won't be an SEC team in the game. OSU, Oregon/Stanford, and FSU/Clemson will all be undefeated, and the SEC Champ will have one loss.

But hey, seven years is a good run!

Agree. PP7 and TM7 were exceptional but, even as Freshmen, their level of play was way better than what we're seeing out there now.
