If this is the extent of your knowledge on the Israel/Palestine situation, I'd say that you have a lot to learn.

Is it "exactly" the same? No. No two situations are nor will they ever be. That's the beauty of metaphors. The point is that there are two countries seizing land that is not theirs. Israel has made agreements to no settle in certain areas, but they wait a few months and then do it any way. This has been going on for decades. Russia has seized an area that they have for all intents and purposes, owned for decades anyway and with less than a fraction of the bloodshed we see in Israel/Palestine.

I'd say the point was well made unless of course you have an ax to grind...

There are two ways to win conflicts between governments or countries; force or diplomacy. Force requires a bigger army, diplomacy requires planning and leadership. Failure at diplomacy leads to armed conflict, massive diplomatic failure leads to war - see WWI. Obama established a diplomatic environment with Russia from the beginning built a naive belief of a shared a desire for peace and stability in the world as a primary goal. That was never Putin's primary goal. Putin now owns Crimea; Putin won that diplomatic battle. Everything from here on is the next diplomatic battle, so we will see. But make no mistake, Putin won the last diplomatic battle in a rout.

Left wing support for Bush is revisionist history on steroids.

Russia gives a serious fuck. Can you not recognize propaganda? Putin has no credibility at all and some folks are hanging on his every word.

Right wing attempts to blame Obama for Putin's aggression are transparent, partisan, and laughable.

That's what he wants you to think. Don't swallow the shiny lure. Putin is not the only Russian, you know. There are millions of the fuckers.
