But there were some who wanted to act like it's out of the question to fire a coach, much less a ST coach, mid-season.

And I'm not saying I think he should be fired. I will say that the performance his ST's have given are pretty comparable to a 58-0 ass whippin and we're dam lucky to be undefeated BECAUSE of them.

What a strange world where highly paid employees that are failing miserably at their jobs are allowed to continue failing miserably until the end of the year. I can't think of any successful business that operates like that. Of course you make sure the employee understands that he is failing, give him any help you can and give them the opportunity to turn things around, but the idea that you can't fire someone until they fail to the very end is insane. I'm not advocating firing Peveto, but he shouldn't be coaching special teams moving forward. Incompetence should never be rewarded.

 

I will admit up front that my memory isn't what it used to be. Correct me if I'm wrong. Did our ST performance come close to costing us a W? I'm sure Les will evaluate BDP's performance as he does at the end of the year with every other member of his staff. I wouldn't be shocked to see a change in the ST coaching position.

Yes. I remember that we gave up a TD on a punt return, but we won the game on a special teams play with the fake FG.

 

Being a football coach is not comparable to being a business executive. I can understand Sark being fired mid-season because he is a drunkard, but Golden was not an embarrassment, and I doubt it's going to help Miami much going forward.

 

Speaking of STs woes, does anyone know whether it's a penalty if the punter delays punting and the linemen release downfield before he actually punts the ball? I was under the impression that the gunners could release immediately, but the O-line could not release until the punter punts the ball.

 

It's not? You mean in the football world coaches aren't fired for not getting the job done?

 

What about the kick that we touched? Didn't that lead to a TD? I honestly don't remember the specifics. Missed the beginning of the game cause of another game going over.
