    Bottom Line:

Good teams are 4 and 0.
Great teams will be 13 and 0.

    Light years of difference.

Well, you're wrong...but I think I know what you mean. You're basically calling it the option only if we pitch it. I'm sure you slept since last Saturday, but JJ scored a 16 yd TD on the option...he just didn't pitch it. That's why it's called the option. It is true though that the PITCH hasn't worked with JJ. There have been quite a few plays that he kept it and either got the first down, picked up 6-8 yds, or scored. Those plays are successful option plays. He just doesn't know how to pitch.

Quite possibly the best post I've ever read here...especially the bolded part.

I thought that was a zone read he scored on, not an option. He faked the handoff based on the defensive lineman coming down on the back, pulled the ball back and ran it himself.

    Geaux Zone - LSUsports.Net

check about 2 minutes in, it was a zone read, not an option play with no pitch.

I'm pretty sure LSU has run the option 17 times this year for a grand total of 32 yards. Man that is efficient.

I know exactly what kind of play it was. The zone read IS an option. It depends on what he READS. He read right that time...and executed well.

Again...NOT defending the option...but the option doesn't just mean an option to run or pitch. Really, it's ALL a read option. Just different variations of it. I would personally love to see it removed from the LSU playbook...let Crowton take it with him when he leaves.

Excellent post. As I read my own words from earlier, and this, something hit me. What if Miles has been giving the kid a chance based on he has earned it. Not giving up on him, yet, because he hasn't cost us a game. But now that, after 4 games the kid has shown no progress, he does exactly as you state LaSalle, and tells the kid it's time we try something else. You've battled hard but you just are trying to hard and it's getting in your way. If so, it's time. JL will need a warm up game and I think we see it against UT.

I really dont have anything to add, its already been said a million times. But Miles and JJ are just delusional at this point. Jefferson was quoted saying he believe he had a good game and Miles said he gave Lee an opportunity. I just dont know what to say anymore, Jefferson truly looked like Aaron Brooks saturday night. As for Miles, JJ, and Crowton, Im just confused.

So let me say this, Miles you have the defense to win a lot of games. Play Lee, because if he does nut up then you have the defense to stop the other team from scoring, but you will never find out because you wont play the kid. Start him for an entire half and stick with him. One thing we know is that he is not afraid to throw the ball. But not given him a chance is killing your standing with fans and hell even the players I believe.

Also throw the ball to Randle, he is the only receiver with NFL hands.
