Umm, I am certain the US did NOT want Iraq to be a pile of mess. All that money spent and its worse than when we left it. Yea, right where we want them.

The problem isn't ISIS itself, its their ideals. If a country in the region has a power shift to these ideals that is bad for everyone.

"Do something different" is certainly not a strategy. I'll ask you what I asked Attilla the Hen . . . what exactly do you propose doing that we aren't already doing?

You'd think people would understand guerrilla wars after Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan. They are unwinnable in the classic sense. You fulfill your objectives and you leave. You don't hang around trying to get people who hate you to become good Jeffersonian democrats. We had no objectives in Iraq--never should have gone and should have left earlier. We have no objectives in Syria. Every side in the fight is anti-American. So we let them kill each other. We do have an objective not to let Iraq fall or Jordan, Turkey, or Israel for that matter. We can achieve that by airpower. We cannot go into Syria and make everybody sing Kumbaya. What we do is strangle them of supplies and arms, bomb the shit out of anything that looks like a military target, and let them get weak enough for one of the other local factions to take over. It ain't our fight to go in and try to bash guerrillas. It's useless game of Whack-A-Mole.

What do you propose doing that we aren't already doing? Nothing we do is going to change islamist ideals, muslims have to do that themselves. So we arm the ones that have the best ideals available and let them fight it out.

We sure as fuck changed the Japanese ideals, and the Germans.

Though the will to do that has left long ago.

Actually the Japanese and Germans changed their own ideals. We just took away their ability to make war.

How bout the King of Jordan putting his Rambo gear on Tweeting a picture of himself looking like he is about to go fight ISIS alone.
