So is Urban Meyer going to be the first to get fined or suspended?

The Associated Press: Florida's Meyer: SEC refs missed late hit on Tebow

"That should have been a penalty, in my opinion," Meyer said. "Obviously, it should have been. You've got to protect quarterbacks. That's the whole purpose. It's right in front of the referee. I'm not sure how they're going to handle that, but ... that was one of the plays we did send in."

Meyer wants to protect his quarterback? Timmy is already a meathead, he is going to be like the Champ in Harlem Nights as a result of all the hits Urban put him in the position to take.

No, because he went thru the right channels first, instead of using the media to blast the SEC officials.

But he did use the media to criticize the SEC officials.

Doesn't make sense here. He did both. As did others before him earlier in the season. Remember, not all blasting of the officials has occured in post game pressers this year.

If you interpret the rule change as strictly as possible. He should be fined. I thought Kiffen's answers to this question were interesting yesterday. Check out Chris Low's blog on ESPN this morning if you want to read them.

problem is, slive is such a douche, there are probably going to be two sets of rules. enforcement is likely going to depend on WHO it is complaining. kinda like who the teams are that seem to be getting preferential treatment on the field.

Oh I think you are correct. I don't think he will be fined or suspended either. I just think its funny that they pass the rule, and less than a week later, their media darling just broke it... what does the SEC office do now?:popcorn:

They'll claim that he only contacted them, and not until the information leaked out to the media did he go public. A difference also, is that he isn't blasting the officials, but rather just pointing out that they missed a call and need to be more careful, because his pretty little Teboy toy needs to be protected against the mean ol defenses.

Damn! Now does that come out of Meyer's pocket or does UF have to pay it?

The fine is against him so I would assume he has to pay it.
