I remember a while back that it was rumored around the time of the July LSU camp that he had indeed committed. However, nothing has come out of it.
Good news! Seems like a good get- as a junior, threw for 905 yards and rushed for 499 yards last season.......totaled 16 touchdowns.
Welcome aboard; he is a great athlete. Let's just hope he gets a lot better his senior year. He only threw for 6 td's his junior year and 4 ints. Not typical qb stats for a LSU scholly qb. I trust Miles' and his staff in recruiting.
I doubt he will play QB for us anyway, maybe some trick plays here and there. Probably will develop him as a WR since we have Perriloux for atleast next year and Jarrett Lee after that, and we'll probably pick up a big time QB prospect in the next 2 years. This is good news though, he seems like a solid athlete.
Please watch Darron's commit: http://www.myfoxhouston.com/myfox/MyFox/pages/sidebar_video.jsp?contentId=4114208&version=1&locale=EN-US
Hmm I wonder who Lou Saban is ;p I just don't see him playing QB... he's not an elite prospect, he's a decent one definitely but not nearly on the level of say Terrell Pryor or EJ Manuel or Dayne Crist. I think that Perrilloux will have the QB position next year, and then they'll give it to Jarrett Lee who'll have it for a few years, and we'll probably sign a big time QB prospect in the next few years. So maybe Darron Thomas is in the mix for QB, but I just feel that if he wants significant playing time he might atleast have to play a little bit WR because I don't see him beating out Perrilloux or Lee.
Don't overlook the guy as a QB. He's raw, but he's very athletic. He could be a Matt Jones-type quarterback if he develops more. I too think his future probably lies somewhere other than QB, but it's nto definite.
