So if Georgia wins, do you think they avoid the immediate rematch in the playoffs?

No problem cause it's not about Conference Championships, anyway.

Exactly. They can use whatever reasoning they want, to do wtf they want and they got it correct.

I don't think anybody cares which team is #5 and which is #6. The real argument is between conference champ #4 and non-conference champ #5. Personally I would have picked Georgia over Oklahoma but it was close enough that I have no problem with the committee's decision.

I would be interested in how Vegas would rate hypothetical matchups between UGA-Okie and UGA-Notre Dame.

Yes, unfortunately the committee said that it was their main component for making the choice.

I'm not saying they got it wrong. I'm saying they are being hypocritical in using it to select one but not the other. And in haphazardly applying it year-to-year. If Alabama got in last year due to the eyeball, then the same standard should apply this year. If it doesn't, then they are giving themselves no room to do anything but expand the number of teams

It’s the same problem we had when it was between 2 & 3 and if we go to 8 it will still be a problem with #9. A voting system doesn’t work because it’s someones opinion. A true playoff is done on the field with conference champs, keep winning keep playing. I don’t care either way as I enjoy the games but the debate about who is best is just a money machine. Yes you can make arguments for the stronger conference having more eligibility than those with a cupcake schedule but until they play on the field it’s just speculation.

They do what they want. I understand what you're saying and I know what they said but it was never about conf championshios. The SEC had two teams last year and almost had two teams this year. The SEC even had two teams in the Championship game when we played Bama. Was there even a playoff that yr? It's all bullshit as to who plays.
