Yes, you've read that correctly. I have finally opened my copy of Heart of GeauxLD from the 2007 season. In fact I just took it out of the shrink wrap for the first time. A lot of you know that I was in the hospital much of the 2007 season, and I have absolutely ZERO recollection from the last 2.5 games of the season. That's also correct that I missed the SEC and BCS championship games because I was in a coma/intubated/have NO idea in hell what was going on with me. I remember parts of the Arkansas game, but honestly, it was too much for me and I lost interest. All of the late-game-heroics and comebacks were too hard on me... but I suppose that, in a way, it helped me pull through tough times. It gave me something to look forward to.

I have since tried to forget EVERYTHING about 2007. To many of you, it may have been one of your most cherished years being that LSU took home another crystal ball. However, I just wanted to do everything that I could to forget about it. That means that I was extremely reluctant to watch either championship game from 2007.

But that changed this season. I was so much in anticipation of LSU football to start that I was looking for anything LSU-related online. Well, then I remembered about the Heart of Geauxld DVD, and figured well... why not pop it in? :)

It was the first time I've seen (or heard) any recording of Les Miles' "damn strong football team" speech. It just makes me love the guy that much more. Last season left the most awful taste in my mouth. I'm sure a lot of you were disappointed with the 2008 season, but I was downright disgusted. I spent an entire championship season in Minne-friggin-sota in the snow while LSU won another national title back at home!!! To make matters worse, I was welcomed home with the debacle of the 2008 Tigers!!! I really feel for those of you who live outside of the friendly confines of Tiger Nation. :grin

Also, a lot of you probably know that first and foremost I am an LSU fan... period. Football, basketball, basket-weaving and knitting, you name it and I'm pulling for the P&G. But baseball..... :D I live and die with LSU baseball. So God definitely made up for me missing 2007 with a 2009 LSU CWS title. But maybe LSU fans are greedy? I want more. I want to savor LSU football once again. A lot of you think that I'm overly optimistic about this season -- in fact, I'm pretty much overly optimistic about any and every thing these days -- but I think that we'll be 110% better this season. I just have a hunch. I have the exact same feeling about football that I had for baseball after the 2008 season. Maybe I won't predict another :crystal: just yet, but I have a feeling. :geaux:

But anyhow... just wanted to let you guys know how special everyone here is. LSU fans (and citizens of Louisiana in particular) are an extremely rare breed. I swell with a sense of pride whenever I see the P&G. I may not have any official ties to the university since I am a student at, *cough, sputter,* nicholls state, but the camaraderie amongst the Tiger Faithful transcends any political, social, academic, financial barrier. It is the celebration of everything that is GREAT about Louisiana and its people. Some people simply do not understand this. To some people it is just a game. Just a school. Just two colors (that honestly clash so terribly it's pathetic.) But to everyone who "feels" it, it's much more. It's LSU.

    Amen, brother.

And you are not alone with your hunch...I've got that same pit in my stomach no matter who tries to tell me we still have unanswered questions.

I can feel their fire from Houston, TX.
