Chavis could start by telling Loston to turn around and look for the ball!!! He missed two interception opportunities, including the one in the endzone, where really, all he needed to do was turn around and catch the damn thing. It almost hit him in the head! The Secondary has no football acumen at all. It's like, they don't even have common sense. Every QB has his favorite target. You have to develop the ability to recognize when that receiver is the intended target, or if that receiver is running as decoy. I liked a comment on another thread. I think these guys should be put in more of a man situation. At least there'd be no confusion about who was supposed to guard who. Yeah, they may get burned ... but they are getting burned anyway. The same for our LB squad. No football IQ at all. Kwon shows some .. sometimes, but for the most part, they are slow to recognize the play developing, and as such, they arrive late or they get caught out of position. Don't know if any of you have noticed it, but our defense is almost ALWAYS tackling from behind. That is why a run that should only go for a yard or two goes for 5-10. Bout the only time we stop a play is if out guys or the stunt just accidently has them in the right place at the right time. As far as a pass rush, I'd have Hunter, Rasco, and Allen sit down and watch every play on tape of Mingo, Edwards and Montgomery. Those guys made it to the QB ... so ... what kinds of tricks did they do to get past the tackles.
Ensminger IMO has been a TOTAL bust as a coach and a person since he left LSU as a player. There you go Ross Perkins, (my nephew) I said it for you!
According to a story at NOLA.com: "The way LSU has it set up to call the defense for the secondary, the cornerback nearest the LSU sideline gets the call and echoes it to the closest safety, who passes it to the other safety and finally the other corner back. The Tigers had problems getting the calls in from the sidelines and getting them to the other side of the field. Martin said freshman cornerback Tre'Davious White struggled with that role. He was pulled from the game twice after making his third career start, but first on the road. "We had a young corner and he was nervous," Martin said of White. "It was his first time being in an atmosphere like that." _______________________________ If that was the case, there should have been a contingency plan in place. Having a freshman in that position was a glaring error. The job was and is too important to be trusted to a player with limited game experience, especially if he's gonna get "nervous" in front of a big and loud crowd. This needs to be corrected immediately before it happens again. We should have beaten Georgia by the ten points Bleacher Report gave LSU as the winning margin.
I read that, too...and I was appalled. That far too inefficient. Why not go to a signs or signal method?
There was a contingency plan, they took him out. And they did try hand signals as well but that didn't work. Hopefully the kids settle down this week. And hopefully only our kids quit making mistakes and all of the other teams kids don't.
