I'm not surprised that he has decommitted. I'm more surprised he stayed this long. I never felt good about him for some reason.

Franks was tied to Cam...As soon as the news about Cam's health came out Franks started taking visits. The family probably dug a little deeper and realized that Cam was on a one year deal and not extended yet. And now they likely know Cam contract won't be extended. So I understand why any family making this tough decision would stray away given all the uncertainty.

@bhelmLSU Any word on how Franks was looking skill wise compared to Jennings and Harris? Would Franks have been a legit threat over the off season to battle Harris or Jennings for a starting spot next season?

Hard to tell...I suspect that he had a good chance at passing Jennings and a shot at making us think about starting over Harris but I would have given the leg up to Harris.

For @bhelmLSU -- thanks so much for all of your insight and information. In terms of our QB depth at this stage, we know what he have in Jennings, and hopefully Harris as junior will have improved. What about McMillan and Etling? Can either of them challenge Harris for the starting role?

I guess it is possible but I think Harris would get the nod in a new offense based on his skill set.

Les would never start a freshman at QB even if he was Peyton Manning.
