Yes everyone who is NOT an LSU fan often has some comment about Les Miles and him being an idiot. I usually blow it off.
I have always told people the one thing I LOVE about Les Miles is that he really seems to be a True LSU Tiger. Sure Saban was a good coach but this is a job for him. Bama fans like to think "OH he found his dream job" keep dreaming it just happened to be a job he can succeed at and pays him what he wants. Had Penn State been calling those fateful days at Miami he would have ended up there. Miles I truly believe loves being in Baton Rouge.
That is why I hope he stays with us, I always respond. "Yeh well he is our idiot and we love him being a part of the LSU family"
He doesnt help his cause with statements like R-Kansas etc. My Arkansas friends have never forgotten that one.

Every time I see Arkansas written anywhere, that's how I read it now. Then I chuckle a little bit. I can't help it...it's burned into my brain now. :miles:

    A couple of things...
    -
1)IMHO, Les had his ONE chance to go to UM...and passed. That's that.
    -
2)As long as Lloyd Carr is still involved, the FANS may want Miles...but it won't happen.
    -
3)To say that Miles' seat will be warm if he doesn't "significantly improve on last year's 8-5" is not cut and dry. Record wise, Miles shouldn't have to "significantly improve". BUT, 9-4 or so...with a "damn strong" effort in every game is OK...at least to me. Of course I'd love a 10-14 win season, but realistically, I think 9-4 is possible. I just don't wanna see quitters on the field this season like there were last.
    -
4)With the talent that LES MILES has amassed at LSU, why would UM want him if he doesn't "significantly improve" over last season? There should be no excuse for mediocre play. I totally believe there WILL be "significant improvement", but again, what if?
    -
5)Les really does seem to have embraced LSU, Louisiana, the south in general, etc...
    -
6)If RR is out at UM, it likely means UM is on probation. I'm sure Les would LOVE to leave this recruiting hotbed and go to UM where he has probation to hinder recruiting even more.
    -
7)Lest we forget, Curley Hallman is available...and would likely JUMP at the chance to coach the Maize and Blue.
    -
In summary, I think UM FANS may make a run at Miles, but not the powers that be. I think even if they did...he would decline. Even if he wants it deep down, it would make him look like a worse liar than Saban.

Ok, number 4 in my opinion is an easy one. They don't play defense in the Big 10 like they do in the SEC. I think he would turn that program around if given the opportunity.

number 5 i agree with, but i don't think he would be looked upon as a worse liar than Saban if he would handle the situation right. He has always professed his love for Michigan, and if he came out and was honest, i don't think there would be any hard feelings. And if we don't contend for an SEC championship this season, if we finish 3rd or 4th in the West, or 5th or 6th overall in the SEC, i think he will be on the hot seat. Honestly i wouldn't be as pissed as some would, but i would definitely think that we severely underachieved. The schedule this season is brutal and i think we would almost have to cut him some slack because of that, but if we drop games to Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Ole Miss, and an Arkansas, Auburn, or Vandy, then you can bet he will be on the hot seat, and Tiger fans will be plenty pissed.

yes, yes, yes, of course. it would practically be an insult if they didnt talk to him. any coach who played for you and has a NC (probably just conf championship is enough) at another school will be talked to. even if they dont want him and he doesnt want to go.

I totally agree with this. I don't understand why people think he isn't good with the media. I especially can't believe any Bama fan would have something to say about Miles' interviews! At least he doesn't fold his arms and play "tune in Tokyo" with himself while talking about 9/11 and Pearl Harbor...and the "process" of losing to ULM.

Not that this is my belief, but to just throw in a thought. Is this possibly already in his head, he just hired an entire staff that would give a strong foundation to any new HC, if not one of them to become his replacement.
