For one, watch the second half of the 2011 National Championship game. Sure, he could have made changes and we still might have lost but to not make second half personnel changes and adjustments to the offensive strategy borders on criminal neglect.
Come on man. At least own the fact he wouldn't change the offense when Alabama was laughing at our offense on the sideline, even calling our plays as they were run...
The biggest problem that Miles faced was the lack of QB prospects in the state of Louisiana. During his time the state only produced two four star QB's (both came to LSU). Sure, just say, you can go out and get the top QB's in the nation to come to LSU. Not when the best have been dreaming of playing for there own state schools. He recruited some decent QB's (based on their stars) --- that really never could handle the rock. Mettenberger by far was the best QB he ever got. Mainly because he became handsy at Georgia with a poor coed. Did we always have a stable of RB's and Oline men HELL YA! Did we win allot of games because of this. We did. To put down the most successful coach in the history of our program is ludicrous.
The second half? The Oline was getting abused the entire game. The bottom line is he brought a team to the national championship. Give the man some credit. He did what no one has done. Two national championship games in his career. Try to remember he beat bama in Tuscaloosa that year. The game of the century. I still feel we needed a third game at home in Baton Rouge. He did more for LSU than any coach ever.
Was his refusal to change offensive mindset. We had quarterbacks that could throw slants and TE routes and screen passes, but nope run all 3 downs and punt is better. The quarterbacks he recruited could have been taught better mechanics and developed also. He could have recruited a few out of state qbs to play...
We really didnt. Most cracked under pressure. Say what you will 8 ten winning seasons is unbelievable
We’d have lost. What Miles had to offer wasn’t good enough, he played scared much of his time here. His stock nationally plummeted, this his unemployment after.
We recruited nationally. The reason we couldn’t get a QB is because Miles lost his edge and his offensive philosophy sucked.
Blah Blah Blah. Are we so much better today? We do not have the stable of running backs. We do not have any experienced QB's or WR's. Wow since he left, the QB's are no better than before? Is that fair? What have we gained? Many publications are predicting 6-6. Do you really think that that is better? Did they ever say that a Miles team would go 6-6? I know the answer. ---------- I said in the past be careful what you wish for. Of course you know better.
